Antique Transvaal Money Box (c.1900) Paul Kruger Cast Iron Bank Original

Customer Rating :
$170.00
Qty
Genuine, quality antique Transvaal Money Box, a historically significant piece produced in England during the Boer War era (c. 1900–1902).
This hand-painted cast iron bank features a satirical caricature of President Paul Kruger of the South African Republic. The design was famously based on political illustrations originally published in the Westminster Gazette.
Collector’s Condition & Authenticity:
  • Authentic Early Casting: This is a guaranteed original John Harper & Co. (UK) production. It is identifiable by the razor-thin, flush vertical casting seams and the crisp, raised "TRANSVAAL MONEY BOX" lettering on the top hat—details often lost in later reproductions.
  • Original Cast Iron Pipe: This example is exceptionally rare as it retains its original, heavy cast iron pipe. Most specimens on the market are either missing the pipe or have modern resin/lead replacements.
  • Honest Antique Patina: The hand-painted finish shows authentic "hard" wear to the high points (nose, beard, and hat brim), revealing the dark, oxidized iron underneath. This natural aging is highly sought after by serious collectors.
